YOUR PERSONAL MASSAGE
I pride myself on tailoring massage services to my client's personal individual needs and circumstances. This means your treatment will be some combination of modalities listed below unless you ask for a particular style or service. My goal is to help allow your body to return to its own natural alignment, rhythm and sense of well-being.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
Relaxation and promoting circulation is what Swedish massage is all about! While several variations of strokes are practiced, the basics are gliding and kneading strokes with varying pressure and manipulating of soft tissue. Often, Swedish allows the practitioner to integrate other modalities into a session for the best results.
REFLEXOLOGY
This modality uses the pretense that maps of the body are reflected in the hands and feet and sometimes, ears. The practitioner can therefore apply pressure to reflex points on a hand, finger, foot or toe and achieve results at a corresponding area of the body. Reflexology is loosely akin to acupressure and a Japanese form of massage known as Shiatsu.
NEUROMUSCULAR (Trigger Point) THERAPY (NMT)
If you've ever felt like a muscle had a "knot" in it, you've contacted the target of this modality. Research shows that most people have trigger points in their bodies, causing both localized and "referred" pain - pain felt elsewhere in the body besides where the knot is actually found. This deep tissue modality works to relax contracted muscles ("knots") and clear out stagnated acids and other toxins from muscles. "Deep Tissue" work includes both NMT and Connective Tissue Therapy (CTT).
CONNECTIVE TISSUE THERAPY (CTT)
Another deep work modality, CTT recognizes that the entire body communicates through both the nervous system and connective tissue - layers of thin tissue wrapping every fiber of muscle and nerve, every organ and organ system in the body. Connective tissue therefore becomes more fluid and pliable with massage (thixotropy), allowing for better circulation, range of motion and a healthier body!
MEDICAL MASSAGE
This is a generic term associated with several forms of work done relating directly to medical issues, such as accident and injury rehabilitation, pregnancy, chiropractic adjunct and others. Please consult with your Massage Therapist regarding medical massage as you may require a physician's prescription or clearance for massage or the Therapist may need to consult with your physician while working with you.
KINESTHETIC AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT
In KAM, the client's head, arms, legs and torso are passively manipulated to bring about an awareness of range and simplicity of their body in motion. Additionally, clients often experience a deep relaxation. KAM is not for anyone with bone, ligament, severe muscle or tendon damage.
Please note: I am a non-sexual massage therapist
